Light, sweet crude for July delivery rose 42 cents to $127.77 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The jump took a cue from a spike in the price of heating oil following temporary outages at some refineries in Europe.
Meanwhile, Iran's top Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries official said there is no need for a special OPEC meeting to discuss raising output, said Phil Flynn, an analyst at Alaron Trading Corp. in Chicago.
ADRs of Latin American airlines traded lower Monday. Airline shares often trade opposite the price of oil because fuel represents one of their biggest costs.
